The purpose of smoke studies is to make cleanroom airflows visible. Air flows within are an important factor becasue they can have an impact on the quality of a product. The low-turbulence range is of particular interest in cleanrooms. Within a low-turbulence range, structures such as machines, etc. always lead to flow deflection and unintentional turbulences.
Smoke Studies can be undertaken using a mist generator, which produces a heavy, saturated mist free of all toxins. This mist is applied to the air inlet under examination and the resulting flow pattern is recorded by means of digital video or a photographic camera. The film material is then processed into a video and complemented by an extensive report.
